Snow Being

Pick up a mitt-full
of sticky snow
pat pat pat
into a small ball
roll it     roll it
watch it grow
round and round
go    go    go
round and round
over snowy ground

    press and
         roll to pick up layer
     upon layer of fallen flakes
                r o l l i n g  big  Big B i g g e r and
           rolling round round wide wide Wi-der
         making round - about wandering paths
      pat   pat    pat  pat  the   white  f lu f f  stuff
      tight  tight tight together till  you’ve  got  a
        g r e a t   b i g   h u g e   round smoothed
        big  big  big - as - you - can  bottom ball
that kind of sort of looks like this
      if only this were snow white
           and sticky lovely snow       
    squashed somewhat flat where it touches ground

now stand up straight
do a limbering shake
then bend back down
to start again

pick up snow
pat pat pat
roll it roll it
see it grow
into a round
biggish belly-
     middle
button-chest ball 

stand up stretch out
   sh-a-ky  sh-sh-ake
     swoop down 

up
scoop
      one more mitt
   of sticky snow 

pat it pat it
and roll roll roll
until you’ve got

a perfect head!

of balls one and two
pack them pack them
do    do     do 

      packthem
    niceandtight
   yesjustlikethat
 you’ve got it right
  then shape them
      shape them
        8 over 8 

     fix up
one small ball
with more on top
ears nose and eyes
l o n g   short 
pointy or round
belly  ball  buttons
sticks for arms
tip top hat
and flowing scarf
