Rarin' Boots for Rain

Ra-ree-rah
it rains and rains and rains
splash perfect weather
for splish-splosh-dancing
through puddles
in rubber boots

Hurry   hurry   hurry
we’re in a rush
to get outside
in the delicious wet
of spring   summer   or fall
April   May June   July
August or September

We love the smells
wet earth and air
the pearly droplets
everywhere
so please   yes please
hurry   hurry   hurry
slip-stomp our feet
into our boots
and out we go — oh!

Splish   splosh   splash
freshly showered
trees and gardens
streets and houses
shiny wet and clean
puddles here
and puddles there
our splish-splosh-dancing dream

Splish splish splish
we are wading
oh   so   care-ful-ly
wa-ding
through puddle after puddle
and the water it is waving
splosh splosh splosh
waving more and more
with every step we take

then splash splosh splish
we jump our glee
            youpi!
we stamp our feet
            then suddenly stop
            to make a fish-sized wish
sploshity  splish!
splashity splosh!
            youpi yippee youpi
what is your fish ripple wish?

And now we sing
our rarin’ for rain
and rubber boots song
skip-a-dee-skipping along:

ra-ree-rah for rain
rain and rubber boots
ree-ra-rah
ra-ree-rah
for rain
lovely watering rain
and puddle stomping
splishing sploshing
super stimp-stamp-stomping
dance-ready rubber boots

polka dot rarin’ and ready to go!
