Hats, Scarves, Shoes and Socks

The Widow Wyile has a weakness
for hats, scarves, shoes and socks
some of these are specialized
others are multipurpose
but why this turn of phrase
when really what she has
is a strong passion
an attraction to
an appreciation of
head and foot coverings
wise choices for an active
life out of doors
hats to shield her from the sun’s rays
from the wind’s bite
to keep the heat off in summer
and during the other seasons
scarves of different sizes and weights
perform similar feats for neck and shoulders
and both are fun besides
a feast of shapes and patterns
brims and flow or fluff
why go on about this stuff?
pick an outfit for her
if you dare
draw one up
and hurry
she can’t spend all day
wandering
around
in underwear!
